Afternoon tea is truly one of the great inventions. Yes, elevenses are good too but there’s something about tea and cake at 4pm or so that gives the day a bit of a lift.

Which started me off thinking that yes, it really has got a lot going for it. So here, in a small homage to lovely Wiltshire, are a handful of the great places to be found there – a pub with rooms, a luxurious hotel and a restaurant.
