Moving house is quite an achievement – especially at the moment

One of my oldest and very dearest friends has just moved into a flat with her fella.  An exciting development in itself. Even more so these days, as anyone who has braved the housing market and actually manages to move into a new place deserves a round of applause. If you know someone who’s lucky enough to be moving into a new home, then sending them a thoughtful gift will really add to their warm glow of satisfaction and relief.

She’s been by your side through all the ups and downs

It’s lovely to give your maid of honour  / chief bridesmaid (or in my case, best woman) something that she can keep as a tangible marker of being part of your special day.  It’s even better if it’s something she might actually like – conversations with ladies who’ve taken on this role for others show that this may not always be given due consideration. And the holy grail is something that’s also useful – to the bride – on the big day itself.

Elegance and tranquillity in the middle of Soho

Civil ceremonies have become increasingly popular but I find that some people who would love to have a religious wedding service are put off from doing it.  These are often folk who really aren’t particularly devout at all but like the tradition or the sense of romance or the ‘properness’ that a religious ceremony can give.  The problem is that being in a big church creates a certain tone for the wedding and can be pretty daunting.  It can also be tricky to find the right kind of place nearby for how they ideally want the rest of the day to be.
